HOW TO SUPPORT ALPHA

Be a Volunteer

If you are in a position to devote at least 2 hours in a week for community work, you can be a volunteer!
The primary responsibility of a volunteer is to find out patients who require palliative care in the locality, speak to the patient and the family about it, ask a family member to get the patient registered in Alpha or the nearest palliative care centre. The volunteer has to establish a rapport with the patient so that the patient feels free to tell the problems faced. The volunteer can get in touch with the Community Division to get guidance if necessary and take part in the efforts to solve the economic, psych-social and spiritual problems faced. The volunteer could also join the local chapters to find solutions locally. The volunteer should always remember that it is the right of a patient to receive palliative care and it is the community's responsibility to provide it! Alpha Community Division will be pleased to provide volunteer training involving 10 hours theory and few practical lessons.
